Énergir

An energy transition focused on sustainable innovation.
A little background

Energir, Quebec's leading energy company, is dedicated to natural gas distribution and sustainable energy solutions to reduce carbon footprints. Its flagship initiatives include

  • 100% Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
  • Biénergie - a gas-electricity combination for efficiency and savings.

Launched for the residential market in June 2022, Biénergie is supported by an educational campaign to explain its benefits and how it works.

My missions

Launched for the residential market in June 2022, bi-energy relied on an educational campaign to explain its benefits and how it works.

As a Customer Experience Consultant, I :

  • Mapped the customer journey for the transition to bi-energy.
  • Suggested, in early 2023, a sales approach enriched by user research to better understand consumer expectations and questions.

A strategy combining innovation, education and active listening to users.

The first steps :

Mapping

The second step:

Research

We held several meetings:

  • A meeting with Energir’s customer service department;
  • An interview with two people interested in bi-energy and two people who have already adopted bi-energy;
  • A Google Analytics analysis conducted by our partner Advisio

The main results of this research are as follows:

  • Consumers had a good understanding of how
    biogas;
  • The stages and duration of the work remained unclear;
    there was no single clear message on the pages.
  • It was difficult for them to get a clear idea of the amount of the subsidy.

After testing our three information architecture solutions using Hi-fi wireframes, we validated a two-page approach: one dedicated to bi-energy and subsidies, the other to installation steps.

What I've learned

This project has enabled me to hone my UX skills, putting at the heart of my approach the understanding of customer needs and the optimization of their journey.

I learned how to combine an educational and commercial marketing approach to respond effectively to user expectations while meeting conversion targets. Thanks to user research, I was able to identify key friction points and propose concrete improvements.

Last but not least, I gained a better grasp of communication between multi-disciplinary teams, while applying strategic UI solutions tailored to consumer expectations and corporate priorities.
